Climate

Laos generally experiences a mild tropical climate, although it can become quite chilly during the cool season. In the Mekong Valley, temperatures typically range from 10 to 40 degrees Celsius, while in the mountains and on the Xieng Khouang and Bolaven Plateaus, temperatures can drop below zero.

The country has two distinct seasons. The dry season spans from October to April, with the cooler months occurring from November to February. During this time, visitors can enjoy pleasant weather and clear skies. The rainy season, on the other hand, lasts from May to September, bringing frequent rainfall and occasional thunderstorms. Despite the rain, this season also showcases the lush greenery and vibrant landscapes of Laos.

It’s important to consider these climate patterns when planning your visit to Laos, as they can impact your choice of activities and clothing. Whether you prefer the cooler and drier months or the lush and rainy season, Laos offers a unique experience throughout the year.
