Thing to know about Laos

Laos, officially known as the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, is the only landlocked Southeast Asian country.

Spanning an area of approximately 237.955 square kilometers, it is bordered by several countries, including China to the north, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar (Burma) to the northwest.

With a population of over 7.5 million people (up to 2023), Laos is home to a diverse mix of ethnic groups. The country’s administrative divisions are organized into 17 provinces, each with its own distinct characteristics and cultural heritage. The capital and largest city of Laos is Vientiane, situated on the banks of the Mekong River.
